Sales Manager (Conference & Events)

We’re on the hunt for a Sales Manager (Conference & Events) to lead the charge in growing our external events portfolio and turning this iconic venue into a go-to destination for conferences, exhibitions, and all things extraordinary. In this role, you'll be the deal-maker, relationship-builder, and experience-creator all rolled into one! You'll hunt down fresh business opportunities, keep clients smiling, and craft epic events that make a lasting impression. From building a buzzing calendar of home-grown conferences to teaming up with Scottish Rugby and our in-house legends, you’ll be at the heart of it all. With two brilliant direct reports by your side, you'll lead with vision, energy, and a sprinkle of Murrayfield magic. You'll also be our star on the road – networking, schmoozing, and showing the world why The Murrayfield Experience is the place to be for unforgettable events.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow revenue from external conferences, meetings, and events.
- Proactively win new business across corporate, association, and agency markets.
- Build and manage strong client and partner relationships to drive repeat business and loyalty.
- Lead responses to enquiries, proposals, and tenders to maximise conversion and revenue.
- Represent The Murrayfield Experience at trade shows and industry events to generate leads.
- Collaborate with Elior’s central sales team to align strategies and share best practices.
- Oversee seamless planning and delivery of all confirmed events with internal teams.
- Work closely with clients to tailor event solutions and exceed expectations.
- Develop a home-grown calendar of unique events in partnership with Scottish Rugby.
- Lead and support a team of two, setting clear goals and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Drive innovation in sales strategy, pricing, upselling, and product development.
- Manage budgets, sales forecasts, and commercial contracts to ensure profitability.
- Monitor market trends and client feedback to enhance offerings and inform strategy.
What you can bring?
- A strong track record in conference, events, or hospitality sales, with a demonstratable ability to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Experience in planning and delivering high-quality conferences and events, ensuring operational excellence.
- Experience managing and developing a team, providing guidance and motivation to drive success.
- Ability to proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities, growing a client base.
- Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with corporate clients, event agencies, and key stakeholders.
- Experience in budget management, pricing strategies, forecasting, and maximising revenue streams.
- Confidence in engaging with clients at all levels, presenting proposals, and closing deals
- Ability to develop strong partnerships with agents to drive bookings and increase venue visibility.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with Elior’s central sales team and Scottish Rugby stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to represent an organisation professionally at industry exhibitions and networking events.
- Experience using CRM platforms and sales software for lead tracking, pipeline management, and reporting.
- Knowledge of food and beverage services in a conference and events setting.

- Previous experience working within a major venue or sporting environment would be highly advantageous.
- Established networks within the corporate, association, and agency event sectors in Scotland
- Experience working closely with marketing teams on promotional campaigns to increase event sales and brand awareness.
- Understanding of the local corporate landscape and key industries across Edinburgh and the wider Scottish market that drive hospitality and event sales.
