Location: Hybrid – The successful candidate is required to be based from our Livingston, Scotland office two days per week.
We are excited to be hiring for an experienced Project Manager to lead the full lifecycle of project execution from initiation through to delivery and handover.
The Project Manager will play a pivotal role by working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver the right business, technical and change management solutions to help meet schuh’s strategic objectives.
THE PERSON:
- Proven experience in Project Management, successful system implementation and change delivery, preferably in a business with a Retail Store, distribution centre and e-commerce environment
- APM Project management practitioner, Prince II certification or equivalent
- Knowledge of Retail store and E-commerce business systems, related hardware, and technologies
- Proven experience with system implementation (Commercial off the shelf platforms and solutions) and system integration projects, ideally within the Footwear, Retail or other FMCG industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Project management frameworks and methodologies (Waterfall and Agile) and utilising them to ensure successful project outcomes
- Has developed or improved project management processes and transferred knowledge into business functions or wider IT departments
- Sought as a resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems
- Detail-oriented and meticulous, paired with the ability to understand the broader business context and strategic importance.
- Able to prioritise and provide timely resolution to issues and requests
- Strong facilitator and ability to influence and drive change within teams and organisations.
- Innate ability to motivate teams. Able to lead a diverse team of IT professionals, vendors and business partners.
- Tenacious, determined, self-starter - self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision and as a member of a team
- Great communicator – taking complex issues and projects and breaking them down to easily understood concepts within IT, business colleagues and leadership team
- Familiar drafting Statements of work for third parties and contract reviews
- Must possess excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience reporting project status to senior and Executive management
- Advanced skills in MS suite incl. Excel, Word, Powerpoint essential. Jira, Confluence, MS Projects, Lucid and Smartsheets preferred
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creating project definition documents, detailed planning through implementation, applying project management methodology to manage scope, budget, and timing
- This position is responsible for project coordination and provides direction for the entire project team.
- Influence leadership and management levels and teams throughout the organisation and may be called on to consult for other project managers and department heads.
- Provide input to project-related decisions. Assist in working directly with end users to gather the requirements needed to generate the specifications in order to develop the applications and components
- Lead large, complex, and interdependent projects across multiple departments and systems
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations
- Lead by example in applying PMO standards, project frameworks, and governance protocols
- Champion continuous improvement in project delivery, tools, and templates
- Interfaces and directs vendors to facilitate successful project implementation
- Determines potential project barriers and identifies critical path adjustments
- Seen as the lead for system-wide/cross-functional team management
- Identifies project dependencies, mapping and leads resolution
- Responsible for solving complex problems for several projects concurrently
- Creates and delivers data-driven progress reports as needed
- Consults with colleagues concerning current and future potential projects
- Investigates, develops and implements skills/tools to improve the project management methodologies
STRATEGY & PLANNING / VALUE DELIVERY:
- Work with business and IT stakeholders to scope out projects including functional and technical deliverables, cost estimates, resources, and identification of benefits
- Create and maintain appropriate documentation to initiate and successfully run projects – incl. scope. project definition documents, plans, business case, budgets and RAID logs
- Lead teams to ensure a project meets its quality, schedule and budget objectives
- Update and negotiate resource requirements effectively to ensure the project is appropriately staffed
- Motivate and inspire project teams, ensuring high levels of engagement, energy and commitment
- Collaborate with third party vendors and manage vendor relationships effectively
- Plan and oversee end-user documentation, training and change management. Plan and conduct operational handovers to Support teams
- Facilitate Steering Committee meetings
- Conduct risk management assessments and plans
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Map out benefits to enable tracking post execution. Measure and report on benefits and outcomes of the project
- Conduct post-implementation debriefs to identify recommendations for continuous improvement/ lessons learned and embed those within the team and wider org
